” On Saturday, elderly veterans received free energy assistance by getting their furnaces repaired, serviced and cleaned. It is a program put on by Project Heat’s On, a collaborative effort from union technician volunteers and local contractors donating materials. Close to 27 volunteer technicians repaired furnaces to 30 homes in Eau Claire, Altoona, Augusta, and other areas.
“They’re the ones that gave us our freedoms to take care and protect this country and it is nice to give back,” said Russell Boos, Project Heat’s On volunteer.
“Any opportunity to help the community or to help a fellow veteran is an opportunity that I take,” said Ryan Huls, Project Heat’s On volunteer.”

It’s nice to give something back to those who served our country. Unfortunately, many of these veterans don’t receive adequate compensation once they’ve left the military. Project Heat’s On is a noble cause and should provide financial relief as well as peace of mind for those veterans who desperately need such a service.
